Santa Rosa ISD believes in the importance of character development and social-emotional learning to ensure that our students grow into kind and compassionate adults. We also know how challenging this can be in the current climate of social media and the added stress of the pandemic.

 

Character Strong is a curriculum and professional development training focused on fostering the whole child with vertically-aligned lessons that teach Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and character side-by-side. The SEL competencies include:

 

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Social awareness
  • Relationship skills
  • Responsible decision making

 

Character development is rooted in core principles of patience, kindness, honesty, respect, selflessness, forgiveness, commitment, and humility.
